Rev. Johnny L. Barber, II was born in Miami, Florida, to Johnny L. Barber, Sr., and the late Mary R. Taylor. He has three lovely children, Morgan Fay Barber, Maegan Alice Barber, and Kiersten Savannah Barber. He is a graduate of Miami Central High School. Pastor Barber holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from American InterContinental University, Plantation FL, and a Master’s in Theology from Barry University, Miami Shores, FL. Rev. Barber began his ministerial ministry at the New Shiloh M.B. Church in Miami under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Arthur Jackson, Jr. and was called into the preaching ministry in 1996. He later was appointed as Youth Pastor and was ordained in 1998.  Rev. Barber has achieved many triumphs, awards, and recognitions during his service to God.  He has given pastoral leadership to the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, FL. While providing pastoral leadership for Mount Sinai, God consistently blessed the ministry.  He founded the Mount Sinai Community Development Corporation.  Under his guidance, they created summer camp programs and developed low-income housing.  Currently, Pastor Barber serves as the pastor of the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, affectionately known as “The House of Love,” located in Boynton Beach, Florida. Pastor Barber has over twenty years of pastoral leadership.

    •    In May 2024, Pastor Barber became the 9th pastor of the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, Boynton Beach, FL


   •    In September 2022, Pastor Barber became a Chaplain for the Miami-Dade County Police Department


   •    In January 2020, Pastor Barber was appointed as a Board member of the Miami-Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board


   •    In December 2019, Pastor Barber became the Faith Base Coordinator for the Miami-Dade County Gun Violence Initiative


   •    In 2018, Pastor Barber was appointed to be the President at-large of the Young Pastors and Ministers Auxiliary of the Florida General Baptist Convention, Inc. 


   •    In December 2015, Pastor Barber was appointed to be the President at-large of the Moderator’s Auxiliary of the Florida General Baptist Convention, Inc.


   •    In September 2015, Pastor Barber became a contributor to the Gospel Truth magazine publishing a monthly article entitled, “Moments with the Moderator.”


   •    In February 2015, he was re-elected to a second term as Moderator of the Florida East Coast Baptist Association.


   •    In February 2011, Pastor Barber was elected as the youngest Moderator of the Florida East Coast Baptist Association (the largest black Baptist Association of churches in the state of Florida and the third largest in the Nation)


   •    Previous Financial secretary for the Baptist Minister’s Council of Miami-Dade and Vicinity


   •    Previous Assistant to the Moderator (under the late Moderator Rev. Dr. Arthur Jackson, Jr.), Florida East Coast Baptist Association 


   •    Previous Teacher/Tutor for the Youth Division Southern Division Ministers and Deacon Union


   •    Previous Second Vice President of the Florida East Coast Baptist Association’s Congress of Christian Education


   •    Previous Corresponding Secretary of the Florida East Coast Baptist Association


   •    Previous Coordinator of the Licentiate Workshop for the Southern Division Minister’s and Deacon's Union


   •    Previous President of the Southern Division Minister's and Deacon's Union of the Florida East Coast Baptist Association


   •    Rev. Barber, is a brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., served as the Chaplain for the Miami Alumni Chapter
